Very tired…because of “TWINS” theory
January 17, 2008
[audio http://www.netrixweb.com/OneBoyOneGirl.mp3]Oh man, I am SOOOO tired today. I swear, the twins have been up all night the last 2 nights, not to mention the time spent eating regularly every night since we brought them home, and it’s really starting to take it’s toll. Julie and I are both dragging. We were warned by other parents of twins how little sleep we would get with 2 babies, but I just don’t think you can understand or prepare for it until you’ve experienced it. My experience has allowed me to formulate my TWINS theory (an abbreviation for The Widening Increase of No Sleep, of course
). This theory states that as the number of babies increases, the amount of sleep attainable by the parents decreases exponentially to zero. In other words, we’re not getting half as much sleep as we did with 1 baby. We’re getting far less. Given this theory, I can’t imagine what it must be like to have triplets or, heaven forbid, quadruplets. Those parents must seriously be walking zombies.

Derek – I’m so glad I checked in on this site tonight and happened to notice that you had put this sweet song on it. What a touching song! It brought tears to my eyes as I reflected on the amazing blessings that have come into yours and Julie’s lives. I know it just has to be rough, but I also know that these twins are very lucky to have come into such a loving family. I also know that God knows what he is doing when he sends these little angels here to the earth. Keep hanging on. I wish so much that we were closer and could be there to help you out a bit. We love all of you so much. Hug each other for us.

Dudes– no good on the no sleepo. I have no advice or empathy, just plenty of sympathy. Continue to look on the bright side of twins–
1. Two for the price of one
2. Oohs and Aaws from everyone.
3. Roman can date Maren’s friends and vice versa
4. Gifts that wouldn’t have come to you if they had been born seperately (twins inspire people to buy things)
5. You have an excuse for anything– all you have to do is drop the twins line and everyone cuts you slack.
6. Did I mention that Roman will have a whole list of people he can date…
